The procedures and processes in your business must be efficient, and you should have methods of operation which take into consideration risk management. When you are designing these processes safety is something which may not necessarily be a major consideration for you, but it definitely should be. There are all sorts of OSHA standards, and I don’t recommend that you break any – however, sometimes OSHA standards in certain circumstances can create unsafe situations.

Time Management: Stress management for students must address scheduling, since a lack in this area can impinge on most or all other areas of a student’s life. Easier for some than for others, a habit of carrying a daily planner and adhering to it can drain away much of the distress.
A consequence should be implemented even if it means being inconvenienced. Jack was a disaster a few years ago and he’d been kicked out of Infant School because of his violence, confrontation and disruption. Teachers couldn’t do a thing with him. He was only 6 years old and a virtual write off in school. The teachers were in despair — whatever they did had no impact on his appalling behaviour.
What was Jack’s response to this new experience? He blossomed and began to enjoy learning. This wasn’t transferred to his mainstream school at first as that could only happen when adults in mainstream learned how to manage behaviour effectively. The adults there had to learn how to control and manage his behaviour – something they’d failed to do before.
I agree that this level of responsibility is a tough pill to swallow. Everyone decides who goes into your class. Other people choose the high stake test content. There are variables and circumstances out of your control every day. To make it worse, you can be a content expert but suck at classroom management and your students will miss a great opportunity to learn from you. The bottom line, you cannot blame students. As a teacher you have to figure out a way to reach ’em and teach ’em.
