Roofing – Common Faq Sheet

My home suffered damage from a severe hail storm this year. It broke out our two street facing windows and our upstairs window. It totaled the exterior of our cars and even destroyed the rosebushes my wife had tried to keep alive through the summer. And the hail damaged roof? The roof was wrecked, even I could tell that and I am no roofing expert.

4) Get three estimates. Any trusted professional will do what it takes to make you feel good about the arrangement and the project, so make sure you are working with contractors that are transparent about their costs.

Will they put it in writing that the crew that is working on your roof will not start another job until your roof is complete? For example, you do not want your roof to be started and a homeowner call your roofing contractor demanding that they start his/her job immediately. In attempt to not lose that demanding homeowner’s business the built up roof system el paso postpones your job for a later date.

The first tip is to find a roofer with a long history and experience in the industry. The standard is that you need to find a roofer who has been in business for a minimum of five years.

Another thing that can be beneficial to look for in a contractor is if the company is family owned and operated. Knowing that the employees are all working for the same team can provide a level of comfort and trust in itself. A family business is not held to corporation rules and can be flexible with clients and prices.

So just how long do you figure it will take you to complete your roofing job anyway? A week? The fact is that even professional estimators have trouble getting their scheduling right, so you can count on doubling and even tripling your estimate. Meanwhile, a contractor can bring in a crew and have the job done in days.

5) Get it in writing. It’s critical to have every aspect of the project documented carefully so both you and your contractor have the right expectations for the work. Make sure you get all warranty information in writing, too. You never know when you’ll need it!
